Nowadays it just seems very common for one to go through a telephone interview before being invited to an in-person interview. I’m going to share with you some tips I follow each time I have a telephone interview or you can watch my YouTube Video that will provide the same tips!
Tip #1 Do Your Research/Reread Job Description
The night before you want to review the job description and do some research on the organization in which you’ve applied at. This will give you the extra knowledge and in case you need to make a comment about the company’s mission/vision you will be able to. At the same time it will show you are prepared and have taken extra steps.
Tip #2 Quiet Place
Make sure wherever you will be having your telephone interview it is quiet and you will have zero interruptions. Do not have the telephone interview in a busy coffee shop. This will show how serious you are about the position by taking this extra step.
Tip #3 Wear a Suit
This tip may sound confusing but try it!! Putting on a suit will help you get in the mode of an interview and it will help boost your confidence. So wear a suit!
Tip #4 Notepad & Pen
It might be useful to keep a notepad and pen nearby during the interview. Something might be discussed that you may want to take note of
Tip #5 Process of Telephone Interview
Will start with verifying the job the candidate applied for. Will review the location, hours. Will discuss in more detail the duties and responsibilities if hired. Will discuss benefits (if applicable) and estimate of pay. Will ask general interview questions.
Tip #6 Ask Questions
After interview is finished the recruiter will ask you if you have any questions. Do not be shy to ask. It is suggested to ask at least two questions.
