Follow me this weekend while I got to Trader Joe’s, Aldi, do Yoga and Cook for the Week!
Nowadays it just seems very common for one to go through a telephone interview before being invited to an in-person interview. I’m going to share with you some tips I follow each time I have a telephone interview or you can watch my YouTube Video that will provide the same tips!
Tip #1 Do Your Research/Reread Job Description
The night before you want to review the job description and do some research on the organization in which you’ve applied at. This will give you the extra knowledge and in case you need to make a comment about the company’s mission/vision you will be able to. At the same time it will show you are prepared and have taken extra steps.
Tip #2 Quiet Place
Make sure wherever you will be having your telephone interview it is quiet and you will have zero interruptions. Do not have the telephone interview in a busy coffee shop. This will show how serious you are about the position by taking this extra step.
Tip #3 Wear a Suit
This tip may sound confusing but try it!! Putting on a suit will help you get in the mode of an interview and it will help boost your confidence. So wear a suit!
Tip #4 Notepad & Pen
It might be useful to keep a notepad and pen nearby during the interview. Something might be discussed that you may want to take note of
Tip #5 Process of Telephone Interview
Will start with verifying the job the candidate applied for. Will review the location, hours. Will discuss in more detail the duties and responsibilities if hired. Will discuss benefits (if applicable) and estimate of pay. Will ask general interview questions.
Tip #6 Ask Questions
After interview is finished the recruiter will ask you if you have any questions. Do not be shy to ask. It is suggested to ask at least two questions.
Hope these tips will help you with your next Telephone Interview! 🙂
I’ve come to discover I like my Sundays to go in a specific way. Start the AM with a Yoga Class. Meet up with friends or family for brunch. Grab coffee at a local coffee shop. Prepare lunch for Monday. End the day with doing nothing and watching TV 😊
This past Sunday I did only three of these items I listed. I spent the beautiful afternoon having brunch at Catch LA. I have to say it was an experience! I had heard of this place, but never had the opportunity to go until a few days ago. If I were to describe it in one word it would be BEAUTIFUL! The place is an absolute gorgeous place to take pictures. My friend and I spent a good 45 minutes taking pictures!
This is the short hallway you walk to get to the hostess, but a must to stop and take pictures
We both had the Salmon brunch plate and the fries. It was delicious. I mean at the end I had nothing left on my plate so that says a lot. Yummy Yummy Yummy! The fries here were delicious!
We then decided to wander the streets of Melrose…before more pictures we wanted…NO NEEDED COFFEE. Walked into Coffee Dose Melrose. It is a cute little coffee shop with delish coffee! Their almond milk is on another level! I’ve never tasted almond milk like that before, it’s almost like the almonds are roasted. Soooo gooodddd!! A must try if you decide to wander the streets of Melrose in the future! Aside from their coffee being delish….their staff are one of the nicest I’ve come across! We sat at the little bar section they had for a good 15minutes and enjoyed the atmosphere.
Happy New Year Everyone!!
How are you kick-starting your New Year? Me? I am super determined, driven and goal-oriented at this moment! I am ready to put the work and work those long hours!
My top goal for 2020 is to start an MBA program! I recently left NICU and got a promotion as Unit Manager for OB/GYN Clinic. Now I’m ready to get started with a MBA program to advance my knowledge, expertise, and to expand my network. I have done a lot of research and narrowed it down to a few programs. Once I decide and sign-up with one I will keep you all informed.
My next goal is to start a YouTube Channel! Surprise!! Well I’ve already sign-up and started filming a few videos, but I really want to make my channel a place where I make related videos for those audience who work a M-F job. When I was working in the NICU I had days off during the weekdays, but also worked every other weekend, holidays and long hours. Now that I have become a M-F gal, I want to make videos that help people who also work the same schedule and things they can do to make their work life easier, such as meals to take to work & etc. I want to offer advice from my personal experience as well. Even if it only helps one person I will feel satisfied, I mean that honestly. Graduating high school, going to college, and trying to figure things out I was alone for most and didn’t have role models or people to relate to in order for me to have guidance.
I really really wanted to become a certified Yoga Instructor, but I don’t think I will be able to start the school this February. I really have to focus on studying for the GRE and getting into a MBA program for the first part of 2020. Hopefully I will have time to start in the Fall, but if not then 2021 it will be!
My plans for travel… to be honest I have two trips in mind for this year. I really am focused on increasing my income becasue I want to pay off my student loans. It has been bothering me for a while and that is why I’ve started looking into jobs such as transcribing or virtual assistant to do in addition to my Full Time M-F job. I know some people are thinking, but hey Mary starting your YouTube Channel will be a side income, but I am not looking at my YT Channel as work, but more as a hobby. Throughout school and for church I’ve always enjoyed creating videos or writing plays and directing them. My channel is a hobby and if it generate revenue then great! But not all channels generate an income that is why I am not looking at my YT Channel as additional income.
I had two main goals for 2019 and I acheived them both! I am very proud of myself for completing them.
- Go to Greece!!
As seen in my October post I went to Greece in September of 2019 and of course did not want to come back! Every time I see a picture or hear Greek music it reminds me how much I miss that trip and the amazing friends I made in my group!
- Leave NICU
November 2, 2019 was my last day working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is no doubt that the NICU is my heart, my home and very special for me. After nearly 12 years of being a part of the NICU family it was time to grow. I no longer was able to grow professional in that department which is why I had to move to another. In October 18, 2019 I accepted the position of Unit Manager of the OB/GYN clinic. It was very hard leaving the NICU, but it was a step that needed to be taken.
What are your goals for 2020? Share them down below!
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year filled with health, happiness, and prosperity!
This is my go to lazy meal whenever I’m lazy but at the same time don’t want to be completely bad. I always use have of the pasta and not the full, I definitely put butter in but use almond milk instead.
Hi Everyone!! It’s been super hectic! In November I no longer have to work weekends & holidays!! I’ve left my previous position of an Administrative Assistant in the NICU and taken on a Unit Manager position in the clinic. Working in the clinic you only work Monday thru Friday.
So how I have been liking my new work schedule?
I love it! I have more time for social events and to have a social life. It is very different from what I’m used to, but I am very happy with my new work schedule. When I’m able to attend to family events and spend time with them on holidays it reminds me of what really matters.
I do miss working in the hospital and the adrenaline rush, but it was time to move forward. It’s important to be structured and go to bed at the appropriate time in order to allow your body to rest and ready for the next workday.
I’m still going through the adjust phase, but I’m excited for this new chapter and to get started on projects and opportunities to learn and grow as a professional!
